Nice Guys Don't Always Finish Last

NICE GUYS DON’T ALWAYS FINISH LAST

Dear Golfer,

You probably know of Nick Price’s reputation as one the
“nice guys” on the tour.

He is extremely well respected by his peers.

Nick was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2003.

He was considered the best player in the world from ’91
through ’94.

He has captured three majors and won 41 professional
events on five continents.

Price has been a two time Vardon Trophy winner awarded
to the lowest stroke average player.

Nick Price was born in Durban South Africa and moved to
Zimbabwe when he was a child.

He started golf when he was just five years old. He would practice
with his older brother using a hand-me-down, left-handed five iron.

He and his brother sank tin cans in the yard as golf holes, which
may have been how his superb short-game touch was developed.

Considered to be one of the best ball strikers on tour, he has
developed an easy quiet swing, but has never stopped his search
for perfection in his game.

As with most pros, Price has experienced many highs and lows
in the game. One low that affected him deeply was the loss of his
close friend and caddy Jeff “Squeeky” Medlen in 1997 to Leukemia.

Even while competing in the high pressure atmosphere of competitive
golf, Price has maintained a “friendly” approach to his fellow golfers,
many times giving tips to struggling players while on the practice tee.

He has been quoted as saying that his “nice guy” reputation may because
of his ability to show empathy for the other guys. He truly is a consummate
professional who proves that nice guys can be winners!

Until next time,
Lisa B.
